Covering Conditions
All mare-owners, who use our stallions for breeding purposes or who have their mares inseminated at our serving station accept the following terms and conditions for current and future business relations. Generally, the following covering conditions and insemination conditions apply:
The breeding season starts on February 1st and ends on September 30th each year.
Your order of semen will only be accepted via telephone until 10.00 a.m.
The following data must be contained in your order of semen:
- desired stallion
- name and complete address of mare-owner
- breeding association where insemination should be registered
- Exact mailing adress (if different from above)
- Data of mare (name, Unique Enquine Life Number (UELN), copy of descent, age)
- Breeding certificates must be submitted to the owner of the stallion (not the vet) at the beginning of the covering season
The costs for the covering are made up of the breeding fee and the flat charge for pregnancy. The insemination fee is due at the first covering and is valid for three insemination attempts at the most. In case of conception before the second or third insemination, the contractual partner is not entitled to any further insemination or to claim possession of the remaining portions of semen.
In case of conception, a flat charge for pregnancy must be paid which is due immediately. This fee must be paid when the pregnant mare is collected at the breeding station at the latest.
Between the 75th and the 90th day of pregnancy, the contractual partner must have a second pregnancy check carried out at his or her own expense.
In case of reabsorption within this period, the contractual partner must inform the breeding station immediately and submit a veterinary certificate until the 91st day of pregnancy at the latest. Provided the veterinary certificate is submitted in time, the flat charge for pregnancy will be refunded. If the notification takes place after the 91st day of pregnancy, the flat charge will not be refunded.
Mares that have been inseminated for the first time after September 1st and have not become pregnant, have the possibility of having the two owing insemination attempts the following year (second and third insemination attempt). Please note that here, too, a veterinary certificate must be submitted until the 91st day after the insemination at the latest. If this deadline is exceeded, the contracutal partner has no further possibility of an insemination attempt.
Postal charges for the semen must be paid by the breeder.
In case a stallion is not available at short notice for special reasons (taking part in a tournament, medical condition, etc.), it is possible to use deep frozen sperm or another stallion. There is no right of refund of the breeding fee.
In case of highly frequented stallions, we point out that mares are inseminated primarily at the breeding station.
For the mares´ accommodation, horse boxes and meadows are provided. The daily rate for mares is EUR 5,00 (excluding VAT), for mares with foals EUR 7,00 (excluding VAT). The accommodation of mares is at owner´s risk.
The owner of the mare therefore agrees, that if required, our vet is consulted at the owner´s expense, provided that the breeding station considers this necessary.
The costs will be charged separately by the contractuary vet.
Inseminations will only be carried out after a follicle check by the contractuary vet of the breeding station. Swab examinations are required, except with 3y. maiden mares and foal mares.
